Giovanni
gives birth to the first family-own sawmill
It all starts from a document: the deed of sale signed by Giovanni Pesavento, son of the late Valentino, on September 17th, 1868. He purchases an “edificio da Molino e Sega da legnami”, a multifunctional structure housing both a mill and a sawmill along the river Astico in San Pietro, a small village in the then municipality of Rotzo e San Pietro located in the upper Vicenza area.
The Pesavento family moves then from the Asiago Plateau to the Astico Valley, starting their family business.
Early ‘900
Valentino
the brave trader
The family lives in a border area, the nineteenth century comes to an end and gives way to the twentieth, whose beginning is marked by two world wars. The family keeps running the company despite the difficulty of living in this area.
Valentino, joined by his sons Davide, Vittorio, and Valentino with their respective spouses, is the first one to move towards the Vicenza plains to sell their timber. There, according to the endured family accounts, he would purchase – but also barter – basic necessities, which were easily available on the plains.

Vittorio
first of all, a Passion
Together with his wife Maria, Vittorio is the one of the three brothers that decides to carry on the business by purchasing a plant in bankruptcy in the industrial area of San Vito di Leguzzano (Vicenza): the production activity on the plains begins.

Maria
the tenacity of a woman
When Vittorio passes away, Maria, together with their daughter Valentina and their son Alberto, takes over the reins of the company.
Tenacity, determination and perseverance are the characteristics of this woman, who was able to manage a purely male activity. Her commitment was recognised with the prize “Maestri Artigiani” (Master Artisans) in 2006.
